Asian Dress
Now, here is the moment you all have been waiting for! You will find out now what Thai, Japanese, and Singapore people dress like! Interesting, but you might be slightly dissappointed.
Japan
To normal American kids, Japanese poeple either look like this, or like this (click the blue words to see the pictures). In reality, they actually look like normal people. The middle school in our district has the kids wear dark blue uniforms to school every day, with the girl's uniforms looking a lot like silly navy dresses. This is one reason why I chose homeschooling over Japanese middle school. The elementary schools are more lax about the uniforms, and they are only worn on special occasions. On holidays such as the Tanabata festival, Japanese people wear kimonos, but usually they just wear normal clothes.
Thailand
Well, in Thailand, most of the people dress like, um, people. Like in Japan. Like in every other civilized country. Although Thailand is a 3rd world country... but who cares, anyway. Their school uniforms are basically a white shirt with darker color shorts or skirts, with the color depending on which school they are from. All the schoolchildren seem to wear them all the time, and we saw several different kinds. Their basic dress is western clothes, though.
Singapore
Singapore dresses a lot like Thailand and Japan. The school uniforms are white shirt and then another color skirt or shorts. We saw, in a McDonalds, these school girls who must have a very, very hard life because their school uniforms were comepletely white! Shudder... Also in Singapore are Hindu women who wear a special kind of clothing and have a red dot on their foreheads. We met these people all over the place, and even saw kids dressed that way.
